A superb single cask of Armagnac 1963 from Château de Gaube, bottled at natural cask strength. This is a classic example of long-aged Armagnac exhibiting very concentrated notes of tobacco, dark fruit, chocolate and rancio, whilst being well balanced by lighter notes of fruit and honey. A truly exceptional tasting.
Decadent Drinks is an independent bottler of whiskey and other spirits. Angus MacRaild – also author of the blog WhiskySponge – is the founder. His philosophy is quality, fun and not taking life too seriously. This offbeat side is found both in his blog and on the labels of his bottlings with this character of the sponge declined in very varied ways.
These bottlings, mostly single barrels, are divided into different brands such as Spongeverse, Equinox & Solstice and Equilibrium. The Spongeverse includes WhiskySponge, RumSponge, CognacSponge, ArmagnacSponge and WineSponge.
TASTING NOTES
Nose : Breathtaking black fruits accompanied by noble wood spices, tobacco and cocoa. An old and classically rustic Armagnac, but with aspects that also recall certain qualities of Cognac.
Taste : Many nuances of fruit with superb notes of rancio and roasted spices. Deeply complex, evolving and truly beautiful.
Finish : Long, earthy, minty and still rich in black fruits.
